Business and Operations Network Track

The Business and Operations Network seeks presentation proposals that show the impact of business and operations in online and professional continuing education units. Business and Operations teams are behind the scenes ensuring that the people, finances, budgets, technology, and facilities are supported and maintained. Institutional leaders are increasingly relying on these units to lead creative and entrepreneurial efforts towards high quality support and service for students, faculty, and staff.

Now is your opportunity to share  best practices, innovative solutions, and alternative approaches for business and operations. We also encourage you to share lessons learned or what not to do because learning from other’s mistakes can be just as valuable as learning from successes.

Presentations involving multiple organizations and international partners, as well as content which may be scaled or optimized by attendees from a wide range of institutions and credit-bearing scenarios (credit, noncredit, alternative credential, etc.) are strongly encouraged. 


Proposals for this track may include (but are not limited to) the following topics:

  • Here is how we started to use AI in our business/operations

  • How to develop and launch a new program on a shoestring budget

  • Creating a support unit when university leaders say there is no funding 

  • What is the revenue sharing model your institution uses?

  • Compare and contrast a self-supporting versus a base-funded unit

  • Share your PCO organization structure and recommendation for others to consider

  • Managing contracts (internal or external partnerships)

  • Employee onboarding and retention practices

  • Implementing the first or replacing your customer relations management or registration system

  • Evaluating if a program continues as part of the portfolio, is paused, or discontinued

  • Your initial experience using AI for business or operations activities

  • Share a change management experience you were involved in

  • A process overhaul experience

  • Projects that explores student billing for adult/graduate and online students 

  • Case Studies regarding innovative approaches, creative solutions, or leadership in finance, human resources, operations, and IT/Technology required to support entrepreneurial units
