Leadership and Strategy Track

Higher Education is in a state of flux. Continuing Education units have drawn special attention on the part of colleges and universities across the country for how they can help solve a variety of institutional/societal challenges. To that end, many Continuing Education units across the country are being “mainstreamed” or “reorganized” as the lines blur in terms of traditional and non-traditional educational audiences and initiatives. This track will focus on effective leadership/strategy in a variety of situations and on developing leadership experiences, knowledge, and skills. Proposals should include examples of effective leadership. Proposal should also include active learning/engagement components during the proposed session to enhance learning and relevant take a ways as a result of the session.

Presentations involving multiple organizations, as well as content which may be scaled or optimized by attendees from a wide range of institutions are strongly encouraged. In addition, innovative formats such as roundtable, a flipped classroom experience (utilizing prior member/attendee discussion on CORe), or a sessions comprised by a series of short presentations on various aspects of a topic are also sought.

Proposals for this track may include (but are not limited to) the following topics:

  • Governance, structure, and organizational change
  • Succession planning
  • Leadership strategies for enhancing degree completion
  • Institutional partnerships (public and private sectors)
  • Community engagement for leadership development
  • Leading in small or specialized institutions or leading small professional, continuing, and/or online units in large institutions
  • Effective leadership examples during times of crisis (institutional, professional, continuing, and/or online units, community/societal)
