CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

It is time to submit your nominations for the UPCEA Region West “In Honor of Excellence Awards.”

Below is the submission form for each category.  Details are contained in the form.

As we did last year, in an effort to simplify the process and reduce paper and postage, nominations will be submitted by email, or the materials may be posted to a website, with a link emailed to the Awards Chair.  Review the documents below for details.

PROGRAM AWARDS CATEGORIES

Outstanding Credit Program
Recognizes a program, which is original in concept and/or approach in a degree-applicable or professional advancement format.  The UPCEA Awards West Committee Chair will forward the winner of this award for the UPCEA National Outstanding Credit Program Award.

Outstanding Non-Credit Program
Recognizes a program, which is original in concept and/or approach in a non-credit format.  This category includes programs awarding C.E.U.’s.  The UPCEA Awards West Committee Chair will forward the winner of this award for the UPCEA National Outstanding Non-Credit Program Award.

Outstanding Administrative Process or Service
Recognizes an administrative process or service, which serves a continuing education clientele in a unique or innovative way.

Engagement Award* (NEW)
Recognizes an outstanding mutually beneficial exchange between a UPCEA member institution and one ore more external constituent such as local communities, corporations, government organizations, or associations.


INDIVIDUAL AWARD CATEGORIES

Professional Contributions to Continuing Education

An opportunity to recognize the exceptional contributions made by the staff or faculty (instructor) member for outstanding work in advancing the field of continuing education.  The UPCEA Awards West Committee Chair will forward the winner of this award for the UPCEA National Walton S. Bittner Service Citation for Outstanding Service Award.

Outstanding Non-Traditional Student Award
This award honors nontraditional student, who are either degree candidates or non-degree students at UPCEA member institutions, for achievement of excellence in pursuit of continuing education.  The UPCEA Awards West Committee Chair will forward the winner of this award for the UPCEA National Outstanding Continuing Education Student Award.

Excellence in Teaching Award
This award honors individuals who have provided outstanding teaching, course development, mentoring of students, and service to continuing education. This award recognizes those who have made significant contributions to credit or noncredit programs and who have provided inspirational teaching to continuing education students.  The UPCEA Awards West Committee Chair will forward the winner of this award for the UPCEA National Excellence in Teaching Award.

Emerging Professional Continuing Educator* (NEW)
Recognizes an individual who have entered the continuing education field within the past five to ten years and have demonstrated leadership and a significant contribution to the continuing education field to either credit or noncredit programs.  The UPCEA Awards West Committee Chair will forward the winner of this award for the UPCEA National Adelle F. Robertson Emerging Professional Continuing Educator Award.

* Regional Pathway award: only regional award winners are eligible to be nominated for the respective national UPCEA award, nominated by the Regional Award Committee chair.

Selection Process

  1. The Award Committee members will review each nomination received by the deadline.
  2. Committee members will review each nomination and rate each nomination based on the criteria detailed in the nomination form.
  3. The award committee chair will receive all scores and notify the winners of each category.
  4. The award notifications will be made by August 29, 2014.
  5. The Committee’s decision will be final.

Award Presentation at Regional Conference
All award recipients will be recognized at the award luncheon held at the regional conference. It is optional for the institution to be present at the conference to accept the award.  If an institution is unable to be present at the regional conference, the award committee chair will mail the plaque to the institution.

The award committee chair will forward the appropriate award recipient’s nomination to the UPCEA National Award.
