Things to Do in Denver

Discover Denver, the Mile High City. If you're coming from a low altitude area, read these tips to be sure you don't get too tired throughout the day. Denver has a lot to offer, outside of the professional development opportunities at the conference. After you're done for the day, or if you are staying over the weekend, check out some of the great offerings within a close walk or drive of the conference hotel.

Food: Join a dinner group during the conference and find your way to some fabulous food within walking distance to the hotel. Sign up for one of our Dinner Groups taking place on Thursday night (meeting in the lobby at 6pm for reservations at 6:30pm). Sign-up sheets will be available.

Breweries: We've cultivated quite the reputation here in Denver: we know how to brew up some fun. Take your pick of pints around the city (a dozen in downtown alone). Wynkoop, established by current Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper, was one of the first breweries to open in Denver.

Other local favorites:

Shopping: Just up the street from our hotel is a pedestrian stretch of restaurants, bars, and shopping (see the Pavilions for an index of shops). Head north and land at Union Station, a converted train station featuring an eclectic mix of everything you could imagine! Or check out the 16th Street Mall, which has a free bus service. Larimer Square, the city’s oldest block, still features landmark 19th-century buildings.

Other shopping to check out:

Art: DAM! We have some fine art. Walk over to the Denver Art Museum (DAM) for just the building alone (about a 20 minute trek). Or Uber over to the Santa Fe Art District if you're here for First Friday on November 6 to take part in the art walk or check out an event as it's Denver Arts Week

Other area museums:

Views: Our mountains are magnificent, be ready to fall in love. Did you know that from the city of Denver, you can see over 200 named mountain peaks? If you're staying over the weekend, a drive through Rocky Mountain National Park can provide the most astounding views of nature imaginable.
