Prior to the UA, John worked for The Walt Disney Company and toured with the Goo Goo Dolls in a marketing role. Away from the office John has been building a riding railroad at his home in southern Arizona, and is active in community affairs.

He earned his doctorate in management and higher education from the University of Virginia, a Master's of Education in Student Personnel Services from Southern Illinois University, and an undergraduate psychology degree from the College of New Jersey.

Fred is vice provost for Extended Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno, where he oversees the University¹s extensive outreach efforts in continuing and distance education. Additionally, he is the chief operating officer of the Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center on the University campus. Fred serves on the University of Nevada, Reno¹s Presidents Council, Academic Leadership and Outreach Councils, and chaired the University¹s accreditation process for standard two, addressing the institution¹s curriculum mission. He was previously dean of continuing and adult education at St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida. Fred received his doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Iowa and holds a master of arts in history from Truman State University.
He has presented extensively on leadership in higher education, multiculturalism and lifelong learning, and is widely published in the Journal of Research in Education.

Dr. Mark Novak is Associate Vice-President for the College of International and Extended Studies at San Jose State University (SJSU).  Dr. Novak has held this position since 1996.  He oversees International Gateways (the SJSU ESL program), Study Abroad programs, International House, International Recruitment, Professional Development programs, Open University and Special Off-Campus programs.
Dr. Novak received his Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Rutgers University in New Jersey and his Ph.D. degree in Sociology from York University in Toronto.  He specializes in the study of adult development, adult education, and aging.  Dr. Novak has written several books including a general interest study entitled, Successful Aging and several texts in the field of gerontology. 
Dr. Novak has served on the board of the San Jose Jazz Society and currently serves on the board of the Silicon Valley Workforce Investment Network.
