The 2016 UPCEA New England Region Conference, Make it EPIC, is about intentionally and strategically serving contemporary learners who compete in an ever-changing, global knowledge economy. Reaching this goal requires leadership.
Emerging Leaders: Building Influence and Relationships through Clear Conversations, the New England pre-conference workshop, will help you build and refine your communications skills, a critical component of high impact, effective leadership.
This workshop is for new and relatively new professional, continuing, and online education professionals who want to hone their leadership skills. You will learn and practice Appreciative Inquiry, a powerful method to improve your work relationships and ability to influence others. In small group activities and facilitated discussion, you will learn about leadership trends and resources, plan for personal skill development, and engage with peers from across New England.

Facilitators
Deborah L. Mathews is a seasoned facilitator, trainer, and evaluator. As Director of the University of Rhode Island's Center for Human Services, she helps organizations identify existing strengths and energy, and harness human capital to enhance their capacity to build resilience and excellence.
Lori Herz is an organizational and professional development expert with 20 years of experience providing project management, program planning, curriculum development, and facilitation, training, and evaluation services for a variety of organizations. As a member of the University of Rhode Island’s Center for Human Services, she enjoys partnering with people and organizations to help them maximize potential and achieve their goals.
Register
Fee: $50, includes workshop, and lunch at the Newport Hyatt (1 Goat Island, Newport, RI). Workshop participants are invited to Make it EPIC afternoon sessions and reception on October 26 at no additional charge. Registration for the Pre-Conference does not include full conference registration. To register for the full conference, click here.
Workshop participants must register in advance and are encouraged to register early as it is limited to 35 participants. Separate registrations are required for the October 26 workshop and the Make it EPIC conference (October 26-28).
