Hosted at Convergence 2025: Credential Innovation in Higher Education, Washington DC
The 2025 Convening is the first annual gathering of the representatives to the UPCEA Council for Credential Innovation Officers (CCI). Attendance is free and limited to UPCEA member representatives to the CCI, as well as Institutional Representatives who are registered for Convergence 2025: Credential Innovation in Higher Education, 9/29-10/1, Washington DC. Each UPCEA member institution has the opportunity to identify a senior leader from their organization to represent them on the Council. For more information about CCI or Institutional Representatives or for any questions please contact info@upcea.edu.
The inaugural convening of representatives to the UPCEA Council for Credential Innovation (CCI) from each of UPCEA’s member institutions will provide an opportunity to explore learner-centric, intentional program design through the lens of institutional mission, financial sustainability, and the student experience. Members of the CCI Leadership Team will share their own examples of experiments, pivots, and lessons learned that fueled opportunities to decrease pathway friction and increase learner mobility. These authentic, aspirational cameos will be followed by guided, small group conversations for all attendees to consider how to align micro-credentials and short-term programs with their broader institutional goals, ensuring intentionality across every phase of development.
Don’t delay! Register now to save your seat for UPCEA’s first ever gathering of Chief Credential Innovation Officers!
Registration for the Convening will close Friday, Sept 19.
A Chief Credential Innovation Officer (CCIO) is a senior leader for enterprise-wide credential innovation, at the unit, college, or institutional level. CCIOs are accountable for the credentialing portfolio, making decisions to advance the strategy, leadership, and vision of postsecondary credentialing, including but not limited to technology, pedagogy, external affairs, nomenclature, and governance. UPCEA recognizes there is diversity in such roles and decisions. CCIOs are sometimes professional or online education leaders, with alternative credentials in their portfolio, while others are solely focused on alternative credentials.
CCIOs:
Meet for peer-to-peer networking and to discuss issues related to leadership, strategy, management, and public policy at the annual convening.
Have access to special content focusing on the CCIO perspective at events such as Convergence and the UPCEA Annual Conference, as well as Strategic Conversations, high-level, virtual briefings held semi-annually on topics of import.
Communicate via a dedicated CORe channel for the credential community to share candid questions and comments with peers.
