Call for Proposals - 2017 UPCEA New England

Dear Colleague,

Share your professional wisdom and knowledge at Navigating Pathways for Student Success, the 2017 UPCEA New England Conference, October 25-27, Westin Portland Harborview, Portland, ME.

We are inviting presentation proposals for 60 minute sessions (45 minute presentation plus 15 minute Q&A). You may present individually or with one or more colleagues in a panel or workshop. The best presentations foster discussion and learning among our peers.

Today’s higher education landscape is becoming more complex, while the adult, nontraditional learners are faced with more challenges to continuing their education.  How is your institution helping students to Navigate Pathways for Success?  Please share your experience and  expertise  in an exciting, powerful, insightful, and concise presentation. To spark your ideas for a presentation, think about:

Innovations at your institution that are helping to shorten time to completion
    • Credit for prior learning
    • Competency-based programs
    • Accelerated hybrid / online program models
Low cost tuition models that you are experimenting with
    • Online
    • Boot-camps
How are your programs aligned with industry needs
    • Stackable industry-recognized credentials
    • Digital badges / workforce-driven credentials
    • Micro-credentials
How your institution is helping students to persist and complete their degree
    • Innovations in student retention
    • Student advising models for online

To discuss a possible topic, develop an idea, or suggest a speaker, please contact Paul Cochrane, Sessions Committee chair at paul.cochrane@maine.edu or 207-780-4540.

We build our careers and strengthen our profession when we connect with colleagues.  The New England UPCEA conference is the place to do so. We look forward to receiving your proposal and to seeing you in Portland.

All the best,
Sessions Committee
