Use the following checklist with proposed due dates to organize your award nomination process.

1 year before the Central Region Conference |
Form a Pop-Up Committee: Consider forming a small committee of the people who have a broad view of your institution’s programs and individuals. Gather the committee when the awards are announced and review each category to see if you have programs and individuals who should be nominated.

3-4 months before the Central Region Meeting |
Watch for the Announcement: Watch your email for the announcement of award nominations opening.

Review Past Winners: Regional award winners from the past several years are posted on the regional UPCEA registration page. Take a look at past winners for ideas about who or what in your organization may be a good fit for the various award categories.

Mind the Date: Meet early to determine nominees and aim to have the nomination materials collected and submitted prior to the deadline date. Setting intermediate milestones will help!

Divide and Conquer: Once you’ve decided what and/or who you want to nominate, ask one individual to manage the award submission - review the submission criteria, take the lead on gathering the nomination materials and write or ask someone to write the required nomination narrative. Try to give all contributors to the nomination at least two weeks to prepare the materials you request.

7 days before nominations are due |
Compile the Nomination Materials: Aim for a date at least a week prior to the deadline date to have all nomination materials compiled for final review and submission. This allows time for you to remind those who are a bit late to submit their support materials.

Submit the Nomination(s): Give yourself a couple of days cushion to submit award nomination materials to avoid day-of submission panic!
