South Region | Transforming PCO to Better Align with Evolving Demands

July 13, 2023 | 12:00 - 4:00 PM ET

Regional Salons are half-day, virtual, curated opportunities for UPCEA members to engage in accessible, no-cost professional development and networking, offering a balance of formal presentations and facilitated, two-way, informal conversation. These lively gatherings are designed for members by members, around a theme or topic of critical importance, and tap subject matter experts in and outside of UPCEA, as well as spotlight the important work of our members. Regional Salons provide members a chance to grow their professional networks, to showcase their accomplishments, and to solve unique and shared challenges with peers. Please note, Regional Salons are unrecorded.

Transforming PCO to Better Align with Evolving Demands

The South Region is taking an innovative and participant-driven approach to our Salon. This Salon will put you in the driver's seat, allowing you to shape the content and structure of the event based on your interests and expertise.

At the 2023 South Regional Salon: Transforming PCO to Better Align with Evolving Demands, we are using elements of an unconference style gathering. During our time together, whoever shows up are the right people, there is a facilitator of conversation in each room while we focus on evolving demands requiring us to think about transforming our practice. You can expect a participant-oriented gathering, where you’ll get to choose your own adventure and select topics that are most relevant to you. This will allow you to join breakout rooms where you can interact, dialogue, and learn from your peers on various topics. Most of our time will be spent in smaller breakout rooms connecting with peers around five different topics. You are more than welcome to share your insights and experiences in the breakout room or simply glean knowledge from your colleagues.

Our breakout sessions will be focused on the following topics and lead by the South Regional Leadership team:

  • Artificial Intelligence, facilitated by April Thompson, University of Mississippi

  • Microcredentials, facilitated by Carolyn Callaghan, Western Carolina University

  • Partnerships, facilitated by Amy King, College of William and Mary

  • Prior Learning, facilitated by Brian Crose, University of Southern Indiana

  • Vision/Strategy for PCO Units, facilitated by Susan Seal, Mississippi State University
