SUPER 2018: Mid-Atlantic & South Region Conference

Call for Proposals

The UPCEA SUPER 2018 Regional Conference brings together a dynamic group of continuing educators from two regions who love what they do and enthusiastically share best practices to improve the profession.
We invite you to submit a concurrent session proposal that aligns with one of the UPCEA Networks:

  • Business & Operations
  • Community and Economic Engagement
  • International
  • Marketing, Enrollment, and Student Services
  • Online Administration
  • Program Planning and Implementation

Topics to consider include fiscal administration and program management, innovations in instructional design, effective tools and techniques to data collection and analysis, and any other aspect related to professional, continuing, and online education.

The Call for Proposals has now closed. Thank you to all who submitted.

Logistics
We welcome groundbreaking ideas, success stories, and topical advice geared specifically toward these audiences and topics, and prospective presenters should keep in mind the following guidelines:

  • Presentations should draw out general principles from case studies and encourage discussions with strong interaction.
  • Innovative presentation formats (interactive learning sessions, hands-on activities, etc.) are strongly encouraged.
  • It is critical that the proposal makes clear how the presentation will accommodate the diversity of seminar attendees (for-credit vs. non-credit, varying audience experience levels, array of institutional sizes and budgets, etc.).
  • All concurrent sessions are 60 minutes long.

The proposal submission form includes a section on anticipated outcomes of each concurrent session. The proposal should describe what audience members will learn as a result of attending this session. Conference sessions will be evaluated on how well they achieve those outcomes, so please craft them carefully.

Proposals will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Focus on nontraditional learners
  • Originality/innovation
  • Relevance to networks and topics noted above
  • Intended outcomes for audience

When appropriate, sessions that include some level of audience participation will be given precedence.

New Presenters

If you have never presented before or are nervous about presenting, we are here to help. Just let us know and we will work with you to provide guidance, helpful tips, and feedback to ensure your presentation is successful. All presenters will be offered an experienced mentor who is a leader in that area (aligned with that particular Network).

Acceptance of Speakers
Individuals will be notified about the status of their proposals in early August.

Each selected presenter agrees to:

  • Register and pay the early-bird registration fee no later than August 20, 2018.
  • Work with a mentor, if needed, to identify their target audience and ways to make their presentation successful. Presenters will be paired with their mentors upon acceptance of their proposal.
  • Provide a copy of any presentation slides to UPCEA for archival purposes.
