Newcomers Guide to a Successful Conference Experience


You’re here, you’re excited and ready to learn and participate!  This guide is designed to help newcomers get the most out of the conference.
 
What to Do First                                                                               

  • Familiarize yourself with the schedule                                   
  • Familiarize yourself with the hotel layout
  • Identify key events such as meals, breaks, receptions, exhibit area

How to Read the Schedule                                          

  • Keynote – general session for all attendees                       
  • Concurrent session – choose from sessions under these main themes:                 
    Leadership & Strategy                                                  
    Outreach, Engagement & Economic Development
    Program Management & Innovation
    Marketing, Enrollment & Student Services
    Online Management & Design

  • Each session includes names of presenters, who should attend, description and key objectives

Get to Know the Organization

  • Introduce yourself to other conference attendees
  • Find out where the next session is

Ask others how they are enjoying the conference

Get involved, become a leader

Volunteer for a committee

  • The West region has a number of committees staffed by volunteer members

Attend regional, specialized and annual UPCEA conference

Stay Connected to Colleagues

  • Participate in CORe and other social media
