2017 UPCEA Central Region Conference

October 18 - 20, 2017

Detroit, MI

For over 100 years, UPCEA has resolutely provided higher education thought leaders and practitioners in the field of professional, continuing and online education a forum to network, collaborate, and connect with their peers about relevant content and best practices.  It is no surprise that the bedrock UPCEA values of a rigorous, high value education, commitment to student success, responsiveness to changing workforce and societal needs, and improving access through diversity has continued to keep UPCEA and the regions relevant, resilient, and growing organizations.

The UPCEA Central Region, encompassing the broad swath between Ohio and Colorado, perfectly represents the juxtaposition of those bedrock educational values with the business, technology and educational innovation that is pushing our workforce and society forward.  It has never been more important for us to be responsive and adaptive to the rapid changes coming, but at the same time stay true to those critical values.

Our conference planning team is laser focused on making sure we create an open and accessible environment for old and new continuing education and online professionals. The regional conference is an excellent way to meet with regional contemporaries, develop leadership strategies, keep abreast of relevant content and best practices, learn about changing technologies and demographic trends, and to find practical applications for immediate implementation after the conference.

Some areas of discussion may include:

  • Data-driven decision-making
  • Leadership, strategy and organizational structures
  • Competency-based education
  • Noncredit and conference services
  • Partnerships
  • Alternative forms of earning or awarding credit
  • Changing Demographics
  • Workforce changes

This year’s conference site is Detroit, Michigan, founded in 1701 by French fur traders. During the industrial and post-war revolution, Detroit became a hotbed of innovation and in turn became one of richest cities in the world.  It was coined the Renaissance City. Through many ups and downs, this hard working city is experiencing a new renaissance. Once again, Detroit is pushing transportation technology forward in a way that could once again change the world.  We hope you will join us in Detroit to be inspired by its history, resilience and innovative spirit; these are core values we need to instill in our future students.
