Outreach, Engagement, and Economic Development Track

Professional, continuing, and online education are ideally positioned as conduits for workforce and economic development. The Outreach, Engagement, and Economic Development (OEED) track will focus on the ways in which universities engage with their communities as well as the entrepreneurial relationships they have with external partners. It will highlight how professional, continuing, and online educators help spur new markets and commercial activity, develop our workforce, and create jobs.

In these ways, proposals for this track should add value to the experiences of attendees by including tangible take-aways such as practical step-by-step models to create and implement new ideas.

Presentations involving multiple organizations, as well as content which may be scaled or optimized by attendees from a wide range of institutions are strongly encouraged. In addition, innovative formats such as roundtable, a flipped classroom experience (utilizing prior member/attendee discussion on CORe), or a sessions comprised by a series of short presentations on various aspects of a topic are also sought.

Proposals for this track may include (but are not limited to) the following topics:

  • Creating effective partnerships with institutional and community partners
  • Recognizing and leveraging future trends
  • Assessing workforce needs and filling the skills gap at local, state, and federal levels
  • Showcasing  initiatives to address the skilled workforce shortage through partnerships
  • Strengthening equity and access through professional, continuing, and online education
  • Measuring/tracking the impact of programs for the local, regional and national workforce
